GRAND WAZOO Kings of Soul

GRAND WAZOO Kings of Soul was founded in July 1981 by local St Kilda Trumpeter & Arranger, JOHN MONTESANTE, who still leads the Band today. John is a versatile Jazz + Soul Musician and Arranger and one of Melbourne's most respected band-leaders. 

GRAND WAZOO quickly became a rite of passage for many of the finest artists in Australia, and most outfits that have followed in the Soul genre, have taken their inspiration from this mighty band - which celebrated 40 Years of Soul Music Performance in 2021. A Soul Music band presents special Band Arrangements, that pay homage to the great Soul & RnB classics as well as Band Originals in the same big brassy style. A vibrant band with a 300+ song repertoire, still selling out venues and headlining events, GRAND WAZOO offers musical excellence, longevity, experience and entertainment value second to none; and is widely revered as a "Soul Institution". The band can plays in most settings and has wide appeal across generations.
