JMQ Jazz Ensemble

Step into the captivating world of Modern Jazz with the stylish, horn-led JMQ Ensemble, that has been igniting the scene since its formation in 1990 by St Kilda musician, John Montesante. His Quintet has its heart in bebop - while embracing a diverse array of Jazz standards, selected by singers.

JMQ Jazz Ensemble boasts some of Melbourne's finest Jazz musicians. John leads the charge, alongside double bassist, Nick Haywood, drummer. Tony Floyd, pianist Michael Harding, and a regular rotation of guest singers and saxophonists, who add sonic colour to the gigs. JMQ has performed Thursday Jazz since 2004, now at South Melbourne's Golden Gate Hotel on a bi-weekly basis.
